About Me
Born in Tooting, London in 1988 I grew up in the small village of Saxtead in rural Suffolk where I still live with my parents and brother Jasper. My Dad taught me to ride and before I knew it we were cycling together to a barbcue over 5 miles away on my single gear Townsend Dorado. As I grew up I always remember the most exciting christmas and birthday presents being bicycles!
I attended the local Brandeston Hall school then at 13 Radley College near Oxford, this is where I developed my love for rowing. This love was developed furthur at Loughborough University. As a keen rower I bought a fancy road bike at enormous cost to develop my endurance. I soon found myself wanting to spend hour upon hour touring the countryside on my trusty bike and would day dream during lectures about my next big ride.
In 2008 I saw a documentary about Mark Beaumont, a Scot who wanted to smash the World Record for cycling around the world, watching this inspiring story I thought to myself 'Im going to do that!'. A shortened version of his documentary made for Orange the mobile company can be seen by pressing play at the bottom of the page, if you have a spare 10 mins it is really worth a look!
Visiting Africa in 2007, having always had a deep abiding love for the continent, I travelled though 10 countries and met a dizzying number of different people. Unfortunately I contracted Malaria in Tanzania, and it was a deeply humbling experience, despite all of the western medicine that was available to me I spent a week utterly debilitated and had I had, like so many unfortunates in Africa, no aid at all, I would certainly, like them have died. This was something I was determined to try and change...
